Poor Baby

I’m taking Ella to the doctor today. She just isn’t right. Her face is a weird color, and her lips are pale. She doesn’t seem to be satisfied no matter how long she nurses. I even started using a supplementer with formula during her feedings and she’ll take an extra 1/2- 1 oz, but still she’s unhappy and cranky. She is also still not pooing.
It’s interesting that once one becomes a mom, one becomes obsessed with what goes in and comes out of another human being.
Last week when we went for her check up, she had lost weight from her last visit. She was 8 lbs 7 oz when she was born. She lost down to 7 lbs 13 oz when we left the hospital (which is typical.) But by her first peds visit, she had only gained back to 8 lbs 1 oz. Two weeks later, she had lost an ounce. At three weeks she should have at least gained back her birth weight. Now she’s four and a half weeks, and I don’t think she’s gained anything yet.
It’s just so hard when she’s screaming and nothing helps.
Praying.
I do think it is time to take a trip to the doctor. Let us know what the doc says.
And you’ll be surprised how concern for what goes in and out of a person becomes more important if they get ill, as an adult or elderly, too.
I hope they figure out what’s going on, for her sake and for yours.
*Hugs*
So sorry to hear this. Please keep us updated!

True!
Praying for dear Ella! Keep us posted!
I’m not a mom (I feel I have to say that caveat), but from what I understand, the weight fluctuations you mentioned vary from child, especially in the first few months.
That said, it must be miserable to watch a little one cry and be able to do nothing about it. =(
I’m praying for all of you. Newborns take a bit of figuring out.
Haven’t commented lately but I have been praying for you guys continuously! ❤
Hope it’s just a matter of her nervous system still needing to mature and time will take care of Ella.
