The Post, man! Always rings twice.

I took a brief hiatus from most interwebbing last week, and so took a bye on therealljidol. Life really got in the way! Plus, even though we had a choice of four topics, the limited time I had to dedicate any thought to it produced a total and complete blank. Of course, this may have been due to the fact that there were four choices. I tend to become paralyzed like a deer in the headlights when presented with options. I always hated when there was a choice of essay responses at the end of a test in school. Five questions, choose two. O.M.G.
“Choose Your Own Adventure” books took me forever to read because I had to read every single outcome when presented with a choice.
So Gary, make my world easier by having only ONE topic each week, please. I realize part of the whole point to Idol is to challenge yourself and grow as a writer. But automatic writer’s block in the face of two or more options is my Achilles heel, and puts me at quite the disadvantage! 😛
This week’s Idol topic has my gears turning. I was halfway through an entry when I scrapped it. I realized it was becoming too academic and didactic. And somehow, I don’t think essayic dissertations will get me far in this competition. Sure, it may be easier to write, but I think Wildely witty and biting satirical turns will win me more votes ultimately. It’s just such a chore to do satirical. Rustling up natural wit in order to illuminate a truth is a sight harder than just pedantically stating the obvious. Ugh.
Now I need to go figure out how to sound clever.
