Ok, so I have so far:
Fixed a stapler. That was fun.
Ummm… Yeah. Dona (the Dean) is out, and so is Happy (the Pres.), so the Exec Suite ain’t exactly hoppin’ today. The phones are dead… and there’s no mail to deliver… I got nothin’. I have a paper I could be writing right now. *busts out the laptop*
What do y’all know about Cornelia Parker?

Actually, work study is like anti-work. I wait for the phones to ring, or for someone to ask me to copy something. They found out about my Mad Excel Skillz, and have capitalized on that a few times. It is amazing how many people I have run into in office settings who have no concept of how to make Excel “go.” I learned all my Excel on my own through trial and error. All of my pc skills came about from sink or swim scenarios. Plus, it’s all rather intuitive. I don’t get how people could work with Microsoft products for so long and *not* get Excel. oh well.
But anyway, I have no spread sheets with which to entertain myself today, and I still have a big ol’ pile of mail in front of me. I just moved it off the desk. It was depressing me. If the mail doesn’t get here by 2:30, I’ll just have to go ahead and deliver it. Blecch.
I’ll have to work on that procrastination. Maybe tomorrow.
*30 minutes later*
Ok, so I broke down and delivered the mail. It was driving me crazy, and this afternoon’s delivery hasn’t come yet. Soooo… That’s done. Yay!
There is a dead bird outside the window in the hallway to my office. It’s rather disturbing. I just told our maintenance guy, Kevin, about it. Poor thing. If i had a napkin or something, I would have removed it myself– to just under a tree. Where nature could take it’s course. Outside of the view of passersby. Hm.
45 minutes left. tick tick tick.

I have the office all to myself. Everyone is at a meeting until 12:30. And I still haven’t delivered the mail. It’s actually yesterday’s mail. So I’m waiting for today’s mail, so I can make one trip as opposed to two. Yeah yeah yeah. My lazy butt is too wrapped up in playing on the computer.
In other news, I think I have poison ivy on my thumb. I don’t know how, since I have had no contact with nature of late, but I woke up this morning with those tell-tale blisters on my thumb, and an incredible itching sensation. I cannot think of where I might have come in contact with it. It is indeed a mystery.
Also, I rid my dorm room of chocolate today. And I had a LOT of chocolate. I figured it was best to simply remove temptation. Not that I am turning over a dietary leaf or anything– tho I definitely need to. I think better nutrition would go a long way in improving my condition. Hey that rhymes! I did leave myself one bar of dark chocolate tho– just for emergencies, you understand. You never know when you might need a bite of chocolate. Nasty dementors.
I think that is how I should blame my horrible downward swings. Simply a dementor attack. Give me some poor man’s prozac and I’ll be right as rain in no time. Don’t know what I could attribute my up swings to tho. I’ll have to think on that one.

Here I am in Work Study. They have me busy today. And it’s hot.
It’s 83 F out right now, and it isn’t even noon yet. QAnd inside, it feels like they still have the heat on. I wish I were outside right now. Out the window, it looks all hazy. Which what summer is like round these here parts– hazy hot and humid.
What a day for a daydream…
I am still waiting for my workstudy check. Seems there was a bit of a mix-up in direct deposit. I don’t have direct deposit, you see. So when I saw that my check had been “posted directly to my account,” i knew there was a problem. HR is trying to track down where the money went and then cut me a new check. *rolls eyes* Fun stuff.
Well off to lunch!! wheeee!

… to all who attempted to IM me last night!! Apparently, my computer did not log off properly. I wasn’t ignoring anyone!
And as far as ignoring is concerned… I guess I haven’t been around much over the past few days. Truth be told, I have found that as soon as I sign on the PC, I am deluged with IM’s, inundadted with emails, and spending all of my spare moments talking to a certain .
God has truly blessed us both, and in just a short amount of time, we have been drawn together, and have become dear friends. It’s amazing to me that we can find hours worth of material to cover on the phone every day! Thank goodness phone billing isn’t what it used to be. 😉
Today, I am in Work study, which means I am on the only pc in the whole school with AIM access! woo-hoo! Gotta love the Executive Suite! SO, If y’all see me on before 5 PM EST, please ping me– it gets boring round here. I may not respond right awya, because theyhave me making copies a lot. It’s a nice, responsibility-free type job. Two days a week ain’t so bad either.

Man am I BORED!! Sitting up here in the pres. office with NOTHING to do. No Office Adventures for me. Speaking of which, perhaps I will post my Office Adventures here. yeah, I’ll do that. In the mean time, I have NO adventures, but i think my co-workers (quite rightly) think I’m a complete dip. I am not cut out for office work. I’m too much of a scatter-brain. But boy, can I copy. And answer phones. I get a lot of compliments on my “excellent phone manner.” Someone just walked in a few minutes ago and shook my hand because she says I answer the phone so professionally. Years of practice, I told her. Well, at least it is one thing I can do right.
now where did I store those adventures…

Here I am in the president’s office. Holding down the fort apparently. No one is here but me. Glad I already took a potty break.
It’s incredibly boring and I appear to have exhausted my internet diversions. I think my best friend is having a baby today, but I can’t call on an outside line to find out. The fact that I got an auto-reply when I emailed her is the BIG TIP-OFF. She’s having a little boy, and they are naming him Stephen Anthony, Jr.
Not a big fan of the Junior bit. I’m slightly prejudiced tho, because if I had been a boy, I was going to be a Junior. As it is, I still ended up with my dad’s middle name, but the Juniors (for the most part) that I have known have been shamefully red-necked. Mind you, I’m coming froma primarily Southern East Texas Northern Louisianna back ground, so *everyone* was probably rednecked in my experience, but the Juniors (especially the ones that were family) always stuck out.
But I won’t hold that against Little Stevie. He can’t help it. Maybe he will be here today. Have to wait and see.
